It’s easy to want to take shortcuts and pick up a burger and some fries on the way home from practice because you’re tired and you had a long day, but what you put in is going to directly affect what you get out of your body. And if you want to be able to take your body to the next level, it’s really important that you educate yourself about nutrition, that you understand the fuels that are best for your body because X amount of grams of protein might be okay for me, but it might not be just because we’re the same weight and the same height, the amount of protein that you need to be able to perform well, or you might not need to take it at the same time as I need to have a protein.
So I was the kind of person that would show up with a chicken breast to eat directly after practice when other athletes were having a protein shake because I didn’t use supplements, but the dedication and the discipline is what it takes to be able to make sure you have that available so that you’re not making a bad decision.
